Badminton is a great game both as a professional and recreational one. It requires not only skill but also extensive body movement which helps to keep you physically fit and strong.

Quite frankly, badminton has become a very popular game among all age groups nowadays, and it is fairly easy to play. Moreover, you don’t need to be standing on a badminton court to play badminton.

Just like all other sports Badminton also has many health benefits, but following 2 benefits you get mostly from Badminton.

  • Speedy shuttlecock develops physical and mental agility

Don’t let the innocent-looking shuttlecock deceive you into believing badminton is an easy game. With a top speed of 201mph you have to be physically swift to reach it and mentally agile to work out where to move to return it and how to hit it to win.

The combined agility of mind and body that results breeds fantastic reflexes in the body and advances the ability to process thoughts and accurately develop a plan of action both on and off court.

  • More reach leads to better balance and flexibility

The higher incidence of overhead hits compared with other sports means the body is in a less stable shape than the grounded and steady returns of other racket sports. When this is experienced repeatedly the body gradually becomes accustomed to being extended while moving.

Over time this improves balance as the core muscles rise to a new challenge during play.

Additionally, the extension of the body and elevation of the arm are great for flexibility too. So, while many sports tighten muscles, badminton helps to lengthen them.

For playing badminton you just need a pair of badminton rackets and a shuttlecock.

  • Also called Ping-Pong, ball game similar in principle to lawn tennis and played on a flat table divided into two equal courts by a net fixed across its width at the middle. The object is to hit the ball so that it goes over the net and bounces on the opponent’s half of the table in such a way that the opponent cannot reach it or return it correctly.

  • Just like all other sports Table Tennis has all the health benefits from Playing improves hand-eye coordination, develops mental acuity, improves reflexes, it’s easy on the joints, keeps your brain sharp, improves coordination and balance and Stimulates various different parts of the brain.

  • To play table tennis you require Table-tennis table with net and a pair of paddles/rubber rackets and table tennis ball.

  • The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a take off point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the “horizontal jumps”.

  • Just like other sports long jump also has it’s own benefits, to name some –

  • Build Muscle, Injury Prevention, improve bio-mechanics, Co-ordination and strengthen leg muscles.

Believe it or not, athletics is actually a great way to increase your overall level of health. Research shows that running can raise your levels of good cholesterol while also helping you increase lung function and use. In addition, running can also boost your immune system and lower your risk of developing blood clots.

  • Neurosciences have studied treadmill runners, ultra marathon athletes – and a number of lab animals – to investigate the effects of running on grey matter.

  • Their findings confirm what many runners know from their own experience: we can use running as a tool to improve the way we think and feel.

  • Apart from that running Improves Memory Retention and Brain Development, It Keeps You Healthy and Boosts Confidence, Keeps You Alert etc.

  • For athletics all you need is to strap on a good pair of skid free shoes. You can run anytime, anywhere, but its advisable to avoid heavy traffic area and streets.

Shot Put is played with a heavy spherical object popularly known as shot. The aim is to throw the shot-put as far as possible through a pushing action. It requires immense muscular strength and a good balance upon your body.

  • Shot Put helps in bone density, strengthening, concentration, developing hands and leg muscles and building them. It also helps in boosting patience, mental state etc.

  • For Shot Put, you need the shot-put ball and a well grip skid free shoe. To mark the progress of your throw, you draw 2 horizontal lines – a starting line and finish line on the ground.
